PARC ARCHEOLOGIQUE DES ROCHES GRAVEES

Created in 1975, the Roches Gravées archaeological park is a historic site in Trois-Rivières, Guadeloupe, dedicated to the discovery of pre-Columbian rock art in the Lesser Antilles. Covering an area of around one hectare, the site features some twenty rocks decorated with over 230 engravings, bearing witness to the presence and artistic expression of Amerindian populations, notably the Arawak, several centuries ago. Listed as historic monuments since 1974, these engravings provide a better understanding of the ancient history of Guadeloupe and the lives of the territory's first inhabitants.
