Sibylline – Compagnie Zimarèl
In *Sibylline*, Guadeloupean choreographer Léo Lérus brings together nine performers around a shared question: What defines our identity? The production draws on Caribbean roots while confronting them with contemporary realities. The performance explores several figures and symbols of Caribbean society, from the “poto-mitan” woman to the “nèg mawon,” including the “gwo bôkit” and the “kenbwazè.” Gwoka and léwòz also play a significant role in this exploration of memory, heritage, and the construction of identities. Dance, sound, lighting, and Creole texts come together in a collaborative work where tradition and contemporary creation engage in dialogue. This residency showcase will give the public the opportunity to discover the work developed by the Zimarèl Company at L’Artchipel.
